This accolade is due to Thomas Crapper, the man who popularised the modern flushing toilet, being a son of Thorne, Doncaster. The Oscar-winning film Darkest Hour was part filmed near Doncaster. The scene where Churchill meets the King in his Downing Street bedroom was actually Brodsworth House. Louis Tomlinson is Doncaster's most famous export, but Jeremy Clarkson comes a close second. Best-known for presenting Top Gear from October 2002 to March 2015 and now enjoying his time on Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? One of the main attractions that Doncaster is known for is the Dome Leisure Centre. In 1989, Princess Diana travelled up to officially open the centre. It was a big progression for Doncaster as it contains the first and only split-level ice rink in the UK. The St Leger has been run in Doncaster since 1776 and since then, thousands of racing enthusiasts have descended on Doncaster for a dose of good old fashioned Yorkshire hospitality as well as the thrills and spills of the Sport of Kings.
